Following a family tradition and more than 15 years of industry experience, Michael Hraba founded Hraba Hospitality Consulting (HHC), a full-service consulting hospitality firm focused on eco-resorts and green hotels, boutique hotels and NPS lodges. The firm’s goal is to help clients develop an “ethical” brand that will develop their niche within the hotel market. Prior to founding HHC, Michael worked for both large and boutique hotels, gaining extensive operational and management experience in a variety of cross-functional roles. In addition, Michael has strong knowledge of the rapidly expanding field of social media in relation to hospitality marketing, and has become a leader in this area.

Michael officially began his career in 1995 in San Francisco.  In 1998, working for the Hotel Boulderado in Boulder, CO, he held a variety of customer-focused roles. From there, Michael joined the Wilshire Grand Hotel in Los Angeles, where he played a key role in opening and managing the hotel’s restaurant, nightclub and lounge. Michael then moved into broader management roles from 2002 – 2004 for the Doubletree Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey (now Portola Hotel & Spa) and the Carmel Mission Inn, working closely with customers and managing several large teams. This management experience enabled him to move into a Project Manager role for Passport Resorts in San Francisco and their newest property, The Lodge at the Golden Gate – Cavallo Point. From 2005- 2008, he oversaw the project, acting as the management company’s project manager for the design and build of the eco campus. As the representative of the management company, Michael facilitated the design, construction, interiors, and overall operations for the project. Following this experience, Michael felt well positioned to found Hraba Hospitality Consulting in 2008. HHC consults with its clients to support the growth and development of new and existing properties. Among others, clients include The Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur, CA, Cavallo Point-The Lodge at the Golden Gate,Sausalito, CA, and the new Allison Hotel & Spa in Oregon’s wine country.

Michael received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1998.
